From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Fast food (also known as Quick Service Restaurant or QSR within the industry itself) is the term given to food that can be prepared and served very quickly. While any meal with low preparation time can be considered to be fast food, typically the term refers to food sold in a restaurant or store with preheated or precooked ingredients, and served to the customer in a packaged form for take-out/take-away. The term "fast food" was recognized in a dictionary by Merriam–Webster in 1951. Outlets may be stands or kiosks, which may provide no shelter or seating, or fast food restaurants (also known as quick service restaurants). Franchise operations which are part of restaurant chains have standardized foodstuffs shipped to each restaurant from central locations. The capital requirements involved in opening up a fast food restaurant are relatively low. Restaurants with much higher sit-in ratios, where customers tend to sit and have their orders brought to them in a seemingly more upscale atmosphere, may be known in some areas as fast casual restaurants. GNU Free Documentation License How do I avoid food while working at a fast food restaurant? Q. I am currently in high school and i work many hours at a fast food restaurant. I am trying to lose weight and exercise regularly, but working at the fast food restaurant seems to get in the way. I find myself eating the fries and ice cream, and it is almost impossible to tell myself no. Does anyone have tips on how to fight this? Asked by COD4LIFE - Thu Feb 4 01:04:33 2010 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. I have to say that when I worked at the Dairy Queen in high school, it took several weeks. After making the food, coming home smelling like burgers, it wasn't hard to skip eating meals at work. I would bring fruit to snack on... Maybe you need to make a break. Bring healthy snacks to nibble on when you get hungry. Make a conscious effort to not eat fast food. Make a health choice and stop drinking pop & milk shakes! Only drink water when you are working... Good luck! I know this will be hard but you CAN do it!!! Answered by Eich (#14 - Stewart Haas Racing) - Thu Feb 4 02:59:28 2010 How has the fast food industry transformed the american diet? Q. Answered by whitexsaucer - Sun Apr 22 10:46:35 2007 What can i write for an antithesis statement about fast food companies being regulated by government?
Q. Thesis: In order to combat the rising epidemic of obesity in the nation, the government should intervene in fast food restaurants by becoming much stricter on the health of the foods they serve their customers. By posting calorie contents visibly on menus, banning trans fats, and eliminating jumbo sizing options, government intervention could prove to be useful in improving the nation's collective health. What is a good antithesis? In other words, why should we not let the government intervene in the fast food franhise? Asked by Ryan - Wed Feb 11 19:32:29 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Government intervention in fast food restaurant menus would be unwarranted interference in people's personal dietary choices. Moreover, the price of this interference would be two-fold: First, the bureaucracy needed to enforce the proposed standards would be huge. Second, this interference would set a precedent for further intrusions into people's lives and personal choices.
